If you don't use it you lose it.!
Successful PD is never the result of the 'one-day wonder'.
As important as the Start-up event is, it will never have a lasting impact unless teachers have the opportunity to revisit the new ideas, mull over the new learning, and a framework to make them accountable. If the learner doesn't quickly do something with the new ideas they soon fade as other things creep in.
Our ONLiNE Courses are designed to facilitate this process. We would claim that the more distance there is between the initial training and the implementation results in a dramatic fall-off of knowledge retention and motivation.
So unless there is a 20-hour investment into the classroom practice within the first few weeks, SharpReading will quickly become a nice idea that gathers dust on the computer hard drive.
Each ONLiNE course fleshes out the broad brush strokes delivered in the start-up.
That means
Lessons within units provide well-structured learning steps
Clearly written explanations
video explanations - recordings from webinars showing interaction with teachers
video models of the lesson routines
opportunities for Zoom coaching sessions to iron out the difficulties
We recommend that Year levels or teams add a SharpReading component to their regular meetings for ongoing SharpReading reviews.
Share successes and roadblocks
Problem solve solutions
Common issues? Watch a video clip or review a lesson together
Set short-term goals
Arrange to sit in on each others lessons
HERE'S the GOOD NEWS - No additional cost!
Each teacher has 12 months access to the ONLiNE course as part of the initial training fee.
We will provide you with guidelines for setting this up as part of Step 1.
