Why no pictures?
These texts are written to support our approach to comprehension instruction SharpReading Stage 3. We aim to habituate an active reading habit in our students by getting them to unpack the sentences; learning to construct meaning from the words provided ... hence no pictures.
Students who are still working towards decoding fluency SharpReading Stages 1&2 still need picture cues so we have recently added a set of 'Illustrated StoryBytes' which meet those needs.
